How can you know the truth about your appearance?

If a guy thinks you're attractive he probably doesn't think you're ugly or he just doesn't care and still likes you. If you know the guy likes you why do you care what everyone else thinks. I know some girls I think are ugly (not trying to sound mean here just being honest) but have boyfriends because they don't think she's ugly.
